Konr Rig Heimdahl is a legendary figure in Teutonic and Scandinavian myth cycles. His children are actual persons who figure prominently in the early sagas and who appear in the genealogies of several continental and scandinavian lineages. However, his origins are shrouded in myth and difficult to separate from other similarly named heroes and demigods.
MYTHS AS ARTICULATION OF RACIAL MEMORY
I believe that the legends of KonrRig preserve the memory of the cultural collision and merger of the Eastern European Swydd (A branch of the Dacio Sarmatian/Geatish Tribe) and the pre-existing Danai. The Scandinavian name for king is a permutation of the name of KonrRig (Konung), while the name of his granddaughter who married a Danian Prince forms the root of the Scandinavian name for Queen (Drottning).
The stories and names of the antecedents of KonrRig seem to indicate an eastern Indo-European origin and possibly are pnuemonic device for preserving racial memory of tribal migration of an Asian horse culture from the mountains of the Himalayas (Heimdahl = "Himmeldahlen" or "Chomolungma") to the region of Scythian Black/Sea where they intermarried with the previous tribes of Swydd. And from thence to the shores of the Baltic Gulf where they encountered and intermarried with various indigenous tribes.
The Othinn who appears as KonrRig's GGGGrandfather (and in some stories, as his father) was likely a Dacio-Sarmatian Foederatus in the employ of the Roman Army assigned to the Northern Regions of Germania. Roman military records identify a likely candidate (Aulus Didius "Audin" Gallus) in the family of Aula.
PARALLEL ORIGIN MYTHS
Rig Hornblower - Walks the Midgard and dwells among the Asar. He a archetypical figure in the same vein as Janus the two headed god. He was the first creature to be born of 7 waves (creation epochs) and it is he that will blow the horn to signal the end of the world at Ragnarrok.
Some interpret the story of KonrRig as racial memory explaining the 4 races of man in the Indo-European caste system, however identification of his family origin may be explained also as a rise in status from Mercenary to King within the context of the fall of Rome.
